Apollo

The Apollo provides daily service between St. Barbe, Newfoundland and Blanc Sablon in Quebec from mid April until mid January.

The vessel can accommodate 240 passenger and 75 vehicles.

Crossing time is approx. 1 hour 30 minutes.

History

The vessel was built in the early 1970s by Meyer Werft of Papenburg, West Germany for the Scandinavian Viking Line consortium.

1970 - 1976: Viking Line
She served on the Kapellskär-Mariehamn-Naantali route, but was sold after only six years as traffic grew.
1976-03-12: Sold to Olau Line A. S., Ribe, Denmark. Renamed Olau Kent.
1976 - 1980: Olau Line
Apollo was sold to Ole Lauritzen in 1976 for use on his Sheerness- Vlissingen service of Olau Line. Olau Line was sold to TT-Line in 1978,but Olau Kent (Apollo) remained in Lauritzen ownership, and was chartered to Olau Line.
1980-11-09: Sold to Sparekassen S. D. S., Copenhagen, Denmark. Renamed Gelting Nord for the Fåborg-Gelting service
1984-03: Sold to Nordisk Færgefart, A. S., Nassau, Bahamas. Chartered to Brittany Ferries. Renamed Benodet.
1984-1985: Service Plymouth/Roscoff.
1985-05-28: Chartered to British Channel Island Ferries. Renamed Corbiére. Linking Portsmouth to Jersey and Guernsey.
1989-05: She was transferred to Truckline Ferries, for service between Poole and Cherbourg, retaining the name Corbiére. The charter was terminated in 1990, and she was returned to her owners.
1991-09: Sold to Oy Eckerölinjens A. B. She first served with Estonian New Line as Linda I, although her registered name remained Corbiére.
1994: She operated with Tallink as Corbiere, before joining Eestin Linjat.
1995-03: Renamed Apollo
1998-11-09: Chartered to Tallink.
1999-03-01: Chartered to Nordisk Færgefart A. S., Faaborg, Denmark.
1999-06: Sold to Rederi A. B. Eckerö, Eckerö.
2000-01-26: Sold to Labrador Marine Inc, St John, Newfoundland, Canada.
